The 3 Pillars:

Revisited

Okay, so firstly you need to decide on what your three pillars are, I still believe two of mine to be Teaching and Balance, with mindfulness being replaced with Spirituality.

Once you have the three pillars in place, you begin here in the present tense, followed by Looking Forward, and lastly Reflect on what has been uncovered, before reaching your conclusion.

In theory you can have a 7-card spread or expand it into perhaps a 11 or 13 card depending on what comes up for you in the initial 3 pillars.

Something to consider though, while 3 pillars is stable enough, possibly look to making it 4 instead, this way you are building a foundation that is solid, and supportive. For me I consider my fourth pillar to be the hidden or unknowable factor, that something you didn’t consider or knew was relevant when you thought about the first three pillars and laid them.

Now with that in mind, lets look at what the Dungeons & Dragon’s Tarot Deck, has revealed about the pillars of Teaching, Balance, Spirituality, and The Unknowable.

1st Pillar: Teaching – The Moon

“Facing and allowing deep-seated fears to dissolve in the light of your own awareness. Remove words from the mind and breathe.”

A curious deck this one is, its abstract and yet to the point. I did not actually spot the reference to the conscious and subconscious right away, but its there if you look close enough. I opted to put the thought points into this because, they are just as much a part of the adventure as what you gain from it on the personal level.

As this is the first pillar, the moon is poignant here. It is about coming to terms with bringing the goals to life, I think the biggest fear each and every one of us faces at some point in our existence is “am I good enough?” being aware of that question and then being brave enough to answer it, well those are two different things.

‘You encounter a sorcerer who wants you to look into her crystal ball.’

Well yes, you could say that we who read the cards are sorcerers, a crystal ball is just another way of accessing the recesses of the mind, and uncovering what our truth is, and yes sometimes, just sometimes we are able to move ahead and see the possibilities of what could happen.

We are teachers of the human psyche, and perhaps a signpost for those who are lost.

2nd Pillar: Balance – The Magician

“Tapping into your genius to find new ways of looking at the world.”

Well, hel’s on a bandwagon riding a horse, if there ever was a statement that rings true for me, this would be it. I debate the genius part mind you, but in this context, I will accept it. Throughout my two-year journey of becoming a teacher, I have had to challenge my views of the world on more than the one occasion.

Over the last six weeks, I have been not only challenging myself but others as well, each week I have watched a group of around 6 people become adept at learning a sequence that bridges both Tai Chi and Qi Gong, thing is they are the ones that have taken flight with this, all I have done is lay the foundations and they are getting ready to actually complete a project. This project will see them film the sequence and provided they are happy to share it, the finished project will go live for others to witness – or at the very most they will get to see it.

I never really considered that it was me making it possible, and yet here we are.

‘You meet a sage who gives you a key that opens a magical lock.’

Who knew that the sage would end up being me, I have a hard enough time recognising my own ability. At some point in my journey, I have listened to bad advice of a sort, and it got stuck. It becomes habit to believe that others are already doing what you can, and there is no point in trying (after a fashion) – trouble is what if these ‘others’ are doing it wrong, or missing the obvious that you can see clearly?

That magical lock the key opens, isn’t the key to pandora’s box, but rather the key to the inner perceptions, to look into that purple mirror within and see the world how it truly is, rather than how we’ve been told it is, now that is true magic.
